Biography
Almir Karabegović is a Full Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Informatics of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as CTO and Lead Researcher of GAUSS GIS Center, where he has built a team of leading experts in IT and spatial technology to develop the company’s solutions. His research interests primarily include information systems, spatial data, and image processing, which led to the formation of the Gauss company.
As a partner, he took part on more than 50 projects, 20 research and development projects and more than 30 in cooperation with industry. Also, he is author on more than 50 publications and 4 university textbooks.
He is member of Bosnian-Herzegovinian American Academy of Arts and Sciences (BHAAAS), and Center for Disease Control and Geohealth Studies of Academy of Science and Art of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ANUBIH), as well as a Senior member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEEE).
