Biography
Born in Sarajevo in 1980, Jasmina Gavrankapetanović-Redžić completed her primary and secondary school in Belgium in French. She finished the first year of the Drawing Department of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels in 1999, after which she continued her studies at the Painting Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo in the class of professor Nusret Pašić. As a scholarship recipient of the Japanese Government and the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports (MEXT), she studied in Japan from 04.2003 to 03.2006. where she obtained an MA degree at the Department of Painting, Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts, in the class of professor Tanaka Mutsuji. Since 2007, Jasmina has been working as an assistant at the Art Education Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo. Jasmina became a senior teaching assistant in the same department in 2010. From 2009, she attended the interdisciplinary doctoral study program in art and media theory at the University of Arts in Belgrade. Her doctoral dissertation entitled "Politics of memory in visual arts - Contemporary art of Okinawa and Bosnia and Herzegovina" was completed under the mentorship of prof. dr Milena Dragićević-Šešić in 2014. She became assistant professor in October 2014. years. She was promoted to the position of associate professor in May 2021. Jasmina mentored several graduation projects on BA and MA levels. Jasmina was a Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) international research fellow at the Faculty of Policy Studies, Doshisha University in Kyoto from 2018 to 2020. In addition to her teaching, she realized several independent and collective exhibitions in Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad, published research articles in peer-reviewed international academic journals, was a guest lecturer and researcher at faculties outside Bosnia and Herzegovina and actively participated in the implementation of several international projects of the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo.
