Mitko Kostov is a professor at "St. Kliment Ohridski" University - Bitola, Faculty of Technical Sciences.
He received the Dipl.-Ing. degree in Electrical Engineering (May 1997), the Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (May 2000) and the Ph.D. degree in Engineering (March 2008) from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies, Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Skopje.
In the period Sept 2011 - Sept 2014 he was the head of the Department of Electrical Engineering, and since Sept 2014 he has been the vice-dean for financial affairs at the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Bitola.
Prof. Kostov's general research interest includes image processing, extraction of visual features for images, content-based image retrieval, nuclear medicine images denoising, analysis of electrical disturbances, power system load forecasting.
He is an author of about 60 papers published in journals and conference proceedings. Also, he is the author of three university textbooks - Electronics, Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering, and Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering II.
He has participated in several bilateral and international projects from the Tempus, Erasmus, IPA, COST and other programs, and he has been visiting professor in several foreign scientific institutions.
He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers IEEE since 2006 and the Chamber of Certified Architects and Certified Engineers since 2008.
