Dejan Gjorgjevikj was born in 1967 in Skopje. He received his bachelor, master and PhD degrees in computer science and automation from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Skopje, in 1992, 1997 and 2004, respectively.
He worked at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, from September 1992 to August 2011. He was elected an Assistant Professor in 2004 and an Associate Professor in 2009 at the same faculty.
Since September 2011 he is with the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering in Skopje. In 2014 he was elected Professor. On several occasions he spent study /research visits at the University of Sheffield, England; Technische Universität Dresden, Germany; University of Bari, Italy; Jožef Stefan Institute in Ljubljana, Slovenia and others. He has a 25 year experience in teaching on undergraduate and graduate studies and is accredited mentor for the second and third cycle of studies. Under his mentorship one PhD theses and 16 master theses were defended. He has authored over 100 scientific papers in the field of computer science (cited over 1200 times according to Google Scholar). He has participated in several and was a project leader in few domestic and international projects. He was program member of over 15 national and international conferences.
His research interests are focused on the areas of pattern recognition, machine learning, software engineering and computer education. He speaks English fluently and has some knowledge of German.
