Biography
Professor Dr. Sotirija Duvlis from 1997 to 2002 worked at the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (RCGIB) at the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts on the project: "HPV infection and specific chromosomal abnormalities in the etiopathogenesis of cervical cancer" and completed interdisciplinary postgraduate studies in molecular biology and genetic engineering organized by TEMPUS-PHARE. Since 2002, she has been working at the Institute of Public Health and completed her doctorate in 2016. In 2018, she completed the medical specialization - Clinical Laboratory Genetics. From 2011 to 2018, she participated in the teaching of Laboratory Bioengineering at the Faculty of Pharmacy in Skopje. In 2018, she was elected a titled professor, and in 2021, an assistant professor in the subject of Immunology at Goce Delchev University, Shtip. Participates in numerous trainings, workshops and seminars in the field of immunology, virology, molecular diagnostics and human genetics, including: FEBS advanced course on PCR-based methods in the detection and characterization of hereditary, infectious and malignant diseases, -Training program for confidential and anonymous testing for HIV/AIDS, -New opportunities in virological diagnostics - Genomic and proteomic workshop, sponsored by the FP7 grant, - Final MAPROGEN conference, - In 2017, he participated as an invited expert from the Republic of Macedonia at the 4th meeting of the European Center for Disease Control (ECDC) on hepatitis B and C networking (reporting of genetic and immunologically confirmed infections) - In the same year, he actively participated in the joint meeting of the ECDC FWD and EFSA ZMD networks (“Joint ECDC FWD and EFSA ZMD networks meeting and the 8th ECDC FWD network meeting”), in Parma, Italy as an invited representative of Macedonia. He has also completed professional internships (2012 at the National Institute for Public Health (RIVM), Bilthoven, the Netherlands; 2015, a one-month stay at the "Institute of Clinical Genetics" and the Institute of Immunology at the Clinical Center Ljubljana, Slovenia; 2016 at the Bulgarian National Institute of Virology in Sofia; and a one-month stay at the Genetic Laboratory of Pediatrics, Clinical Center Ljubljana, where he practically learned New Generation sequencing methods). Co-author of several papers published in journals with international editorial boards and is a reviewer for several international journals. Macedonia. From 2018-2023, she participated in the following scientific research projects: - Ni4os.EU- National capacity building training- North Macedonia 2020-2021 - "COVID Human Genetic Effort"- in collaboration with the "Imagine" Institute, from Paris, France. She is a member of the national coordination team for EOSC (European Open Science Cloud), formed within the Ministry of Science and Education framework. She is also a member of several associations, such as the International Papillomavirus Society, the Macedonian Society for Human Genetics, the European Federation of Biochemical Societies, and the Macedonian Society for Immunogenetics. She actively contributes to the training of younger collaborators through their education and mentoring for participation in congresses and seminars. She is also a mentor for several graduate theses by students in the study programs: medical laboratory technicians and general medicine. In 2023, she was elected to the title of Associate Professor of Immunology. Sotirija Duvlis published a textbook in 2022 called "Immunology".
