Universal testing machine for determining the mechanical properties of wood specimens

The universal testing machine makes enables determination of the mechanical properties of wood specimens of smaller dimensions, which is crucial for predicting their behavior under the influence of various loads. Different mechanical tests on the testing machine can be performed using different attachments and grips. Most often, wood is tested in bending, and the machine also enables testing of samples for tensile, compressive and shear loads. In addition, hardness, screw pull-out resistance, split resistance, etc. can be tested. A standard test procedure (ISO 13061 series of standards for determining the mechanical properties of pure wood specimens) has been developed for each mechanical property, which simplifies and unifies the testing of different properties. The exact and objective values of the mechanical properties of wood cannot be determined without appropriate destructive mechanical tests that permanently damage the sample.
