Purpose of equipment
Flow cytometry is a technique for measuring and analyzing the properties of individual cells and microparticles, which pass through the flow cytometer one after the other and illuminate them with a narrow beam of laser light. We can analyze thousands of cells, which gives us a reliable image of the physical and biochemical properties of cells. Flow cytometry has several applications in biological and medical sciences and is used for both research and diagnostic purposes. MacsQuant is a flow cytometer that, in addition to its size and morphology, also allows the measurement of fluorescence with three florescence photodetectors at the same time.
Access of equipment
Responsible for equipment: PhD Polona Žigon
The flow cytometer MacsQuant is located at the Clinical Department of Rheumatology. Researchers have access to it after an early appointment with the equipment manager (Polona Žigon).
