Description
DOBA was established in 1990, 20 employees work in the institute and 6 of them work in the research area as well. More than 200 co-workers are employed on a freelance basis - 20 of them in the research area.
Research work represents 25% of all DOBA's activities so annually 6200 research hours are carried out. The institute provides its own technical and administrative support.
DOBA is the largest private educational institute in Slovenia and one of the leading education providers engaged also in the research work and development.
Areas of DOBA's activities: secondary education, vocational college, language courses, computer courses, research work and development, counselling, training programmes for companies and publishing. In 11 years over 25000 participants have seen the opportunity for studying and gaining knowledge in our programmes and 32 research and development projects have been carried out. A number of DOBA's programmes are recognised by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport. DOBA is the only institute in Slovenia with a concession of the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport to carry out the vocational college programme Business Secretary.
DOBA's programmes, researches and projects are financed by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport, the Ministry of Labour, Family and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Information Society, Small Business Development Centre, Employment Service of Slovenia EU programmes (Leonardo da Vinci, Socrates). About 60% of DOBA's incomes are received from the state budget.
Doba's task is besides offering high quality educational programmes also research work and development. The main working area of DOBA's research team has been researches in the field of application and development, which mostly resulted in development and innovations (new educational programmes, new methods of work, on-line study model, evaluation).
A lot of DOBA's research projects are carried out in practice, e.g. delivery of programmes all over Slovenia, on-line study model - so DOBA's results are excellent.
DOBA has its own premises (about 1000 m2), study rooms for researchers, 11 classrooms, library, Open Learning Centre, all properly equipped for research work (more than 40 computers with modern software), phone lines, internet access with the domain (doba.si), e-mail addresses for researchers. DOBA is also an associate member of COBISS.
Research equipment is mostly financed by the institution itself but in the recent years part of the founds have been provided by Ministry of Education, Science and Sport and in the year 2001 also by the Ministry of Information Society.
DOBA co-operates with a large number of institutions in Slovenia and abroad.
