Description
Company OptaCore Ltd. is engaged in telecommunications industry, specifically in optical fiber production. Company deals with know-how transfer, technology development, process and equipment development, specialty optical fiber fabrication and vertical integration of the products based on optical fibers. Knowledge is based on yearlong experience in fabrication of different types of optical fibers, on experience in installation and start-up of optical fiber factories worldwide and on successful know-how transfer projects in the field of fiber fabrication process. Technically, OptaCore company is a laboratory developing fabrication processes and equipment for all kinds of optical fibers based on the MCVD process (Modified Chemical Vapor Deposition), from preform manufacturing on MCVD device to fiber drawing on optical fiber drawing tower. Development of the fiber fabrication processes based on MCVD process includes use of different dopants and different doping techniques (standard liquid chloride source vapor precursor doping, solution doping, aerosol technique, low vapor pressure precursor doping), use of alternative heat sources to replace oxy-hydrogen sources and large core preform production improvements for single and multi mode fiber fabrication. In the development of the fiber drawing process OptaCore uses special coating materials and develops procedures to draw specialty fibers (high birefringence, low birefringence optical fibers, microstructure fibers). OptaCore also plans to cooperate with its partners in the development of the OVD process (Outside Vapor Deposition) for the manufacturing of the preforms for optical fibers. For the development purposes OptaCore has also established a well-equipped measurement laboratory for fiber characterization. With the existing measurement equipment OptaCore can measure most of the important geometrical and optical properties of preforms and fibers, such as spectral attenuation, mode field diameter and cut-off wavelength, fiber geometry, preform refractive index, multimode fiber bandwidth, birefringence and fiber strength.
