Abstract
The goal of the research is to produce a commentary on the ''''Illyrian history'''' written by Appian of Alexandria, a Greek historian of the 2nd century A.D. The commentary will include an analytical study of the author, his social status, his other works, and his sources. There will also be a Slovene translation of the ''''Illyrian history'''' and a new English translation, a critical philological commentary of the Greek text, as well as an exhaustive historical commentary based also on archaeological evidence.
