Abstract
Since Slovenian ethnology does not yet have a dictionary, a lexicon, or an encyclopedia, the dictionary of the ethnology of Slovenians will be the first synthetic work of this nature. The work is carried out by researchers of all ethnological and other institutions whose primary work field is ethnology. Individual chapters are being written by experts, aided by younger ethnologists as well. Scientific methods employed in this project are similar to those of other national ethnological dictionaries. A number of keywords need additional research. The dictionary will take into account the whole Slovenian population and will try to encompass a view as broad as possible of their cultural, economic, social, and political life, from the oldest data available to the present; the latter, of course, depends upon the degree of research of individual phenomena.
