Abstract
The purpose of the research is to test various hypothesis forwarded so far on the astronomical significance of Mesoamerican architectural alignements; the available data suggest that cerimonial structures were oriented mostly to the points of sunrise and sunset on certain dates. The results are expected to deepen our knowledge on astronomy and time computation in Mesoamarica, as well as on the role of astronomical and calendrical concepts in architectural and urban planning, religion and political ideology of prehispanic societies.
