Abstract
The object of the project is to examine our hypothesis on not signifficantly different prognosis in gastric cancer patients (GCP) and in colorectal cancer patients (CRP) in the equal UICC pTNM stage undergoing potentially curative operation (R0 resection, D2/3 lymphadenectomy). The present belief in better prognosis for radically operated colorectal cancer patients is being examinated.
In the 5-year period (Jan.1/1993 - Dec. 31/1997) 391/498 GCP and 742/780 CRP undervent resection (R0,R1,R2). All important anamnestic, clinical, intraoperative, pathological and follow-up data were prospective collected in standard protocols and in PC. Resectabillity GCP 77,5%, CRP 95,1%. UICC pTNM stage in GCP: S0 1,3%, SIa 14,8%, S1b 15,9%, SII 19,9%, SIIIa 24,1%, SIIIb 15,6%, SIV 7,9%, unnovn 0,5%. UICC pTNM stage in CRP: S0 1,9%, SIa 2,7%, SIb 8,7%, SII 33,5%, SIIIa 18,9%, SIIIb 15,5%, SIV 19,3%. Postoperative hospital mortallity rate: GCP 3,8%, CRP 7,3%.
In April 1999 survival data for these patients per Dec. 31st 1998 wil by available in Cancer Registry of Slovenia. The analysis of all important factors in comparison with 5-year survival will be made by statistic methods, thus our hypothesis may be proved. Large number of operated patients and standardised operations assure the reliability of the analysis.
