Abstract
The proposed project deals with two connected yet separate areas:
1. the conditions under which the streamwise flow of single and two phase non newtonan fluids such as mud, oil, suspension in counter flow heat exchanger or blood through arteries experience flow induced vibrations, especially fluidelastic instabilities, considering in particular flow through annular geometries or gaps between concentric pipes.
2. two dimensional analysis of non newtonian two phase fluid flow using domain and boundary domain methods, especially flow over obstacles or backward facing steps, comparable with conditions in process engineering eqiupment and flow of blood in arteries.
