Abstract
The aim of the project was to design an employment agent. Our EMA agent is fully operational and provides various types of emloyment information through the Internet (http://www-ai.ijs.si/čema/). It also fluently speaks Slovene. The system also translates Slovenian text into an English one. On this basis, the system also provides employment information speaking English. The English modules provide better connections to EU, which is a Slovenian national aim.
The system is unique in Slovenia due to several modules. E.g., the speech module in Slovenian
language is the first one providing Slovenian speech information through the Internet. Another version of the system provides open information for any input (http://turing.ijs.si/mezi/govor.html). The system is also the first one in Slovenia that translates free input text from Slovenian to English language. (Fair to mention, the system has plenty of room for further improvements.)
The project is closely connected to the international subproject of the INCO-Copernicus Project: 960154, cooperative research in information infrastructure (CRII), and a commercial project funded by the Employment service in Slovenia, the national employment office. In recent months, the system is visited around 100.000 times each month. It is among the most often visited serious sites in Slovenia.
