Abstract
The very rapid development of new techniques for fibre- and paper-processing and surface treatment, as well as the increasing number of new printing techniques, demand a greater knowledge and understanding of the different interactions between fibres, paper/board surfaces, and a variety of different media. The aim of this project is to improve knowledge of the correlation between different influences (modern bleaching processes, neutralisation, increases in hydrophobicity, etc.) and the physicochemical properties of fibres and paper/board, which will help us to understand the different phenomena which take place in the production, processing and surface treatment of fibres and paper/board.
