Abstract
Acute respiratory infections, specially pneumonia, cause a high percentage of morbidity and mortality. In this study we intended to determine the etiology of community acquired pneumonia (CAP) among adult population admitted to the hospital. According to our findings it would be suggested the best approach for surveillance and control for CAP and also for diagnostic procedures and antibiotic treatment. Directed and rational antibiotic treatment shortens the illness, hospitalization and absentism from work and finally it is cost efective.
