Abstract
The purpose of this project is to measure or evaluate the actual exposure of people/consumers to residua of pesticides in food and drinking water, i.e. nutrition, with the aim of comparing the exposure to ADI (Acceptable Daily Intake) of pesticides with the evaluation of health hazard due to pesticides as risk factors. The results that have been obtained during the first two years of the research on the pesticide content in certain food groups (fruit, vegetables, cereals, milling products) and the results that will be further obtained through the project of national food monitoring launched in 1998, will serve as referential indicators of pesticide food contamination in Slovenia. The results will not form a basis for the formulation of new Slovenian regulations in the field of pesticides. The regulations on the maximum acceptable content (MAC) of pesticides in or on aliments will have to be defined on the basis of and in accordance with European regulations.
