Abstract
Polyamide-6 (PA-6) or Nylon-6 is a multipurpose polymer. It is very stable so that piling of waste from this material presents a special problem. Chemical methods of recycling are demanding so a solution is sought in microbial degradation. In the proposed project we will test various fungi for achieving depolimerization of caprolactam oligomers and PA-6. The result of this study will be an analysis of the usefullnes of fungi for removal or recycling of these materials as well as the isolation and characterization of the most effective enzymes.
