Abstract
Cabbage and onion are our most important vegetable crops, for both local open pollinated cultivars are grown but are being gradually substituted by foreign hybrid cultivars. The applications of biotechnology methods developed at CPBB are supposed to accelerate breeding of new local hybrid cultivars. Such approach is based on previously developed techniques and can reduce classic inbreeding process, which usually requires about 15 years. Application of somaclonal variation in pepper will be studied for the first time, the aim is to improve existing pepper cultivars.
