Abstract
This project aims to investigate the metallographic and chemical characteristics of some thixotropic Al alloys ( suppliers: Alusuisse, Aluminium Pechiney, Alcoa, Hertwich) selected by the project consortium for the future semi-solid forming activities planned in IMPOL d.d.
and additionaly microalloyed alloys will be produced.
The objective is to develop the fundamental knowledge and an improved understanding of the microstructural and chemical phenomena in commercial thixotropic Al alloys. This will be the conceptual platform for the development of domestic thixotropic Al alloys produced in IMPOL d.d. in cooperation with Stampal SpA -the leading European manufacturer of the automotive components in semi-solid state.
