Abstract
Strength heterogeneous microstructure of material and high constrain can caused unstable fracture, already under small strain and low applied stress. The differences in mechanical properties among different regions of materials affect the strain distribution around the crack tip during the fracture test and hence influence the toughness value. The weld joint has typical heterogeneous microstructures. In the project will be determined effect of variation weld joint width at different strength mismatch level on fracture behaviour.
