Abstract
During the high-way construction between Pesnica and Šentilj, from 1994-1996, a huge road cut was dug out between Dobrenjska and Germanova valleys crossing the hill between Gornji Štrihovec 368 m and Brlog 431 m in nort-eastern direction. During excavations an important locality of the miocenic septarian noddules was disclosed. The noddules measuring up to two meters in diameter are richly mineralized with barite and calcite. Due to their size and seldom mineral association the septarian noddules from this locality represent an exceptional rarity.
