Abstract
The Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence of University of Maribor would like to be the centre of multidisciplinary knowledge, combining law and natural sciences in the joint struggle to preserve nature and environment. In the past 50 years, in a single life time, the baby boom generation has managed to distort the balance in the environment and in the nature, so necessary for the preservation of the mankind, as no other generation before. The EU is perhaps the single sui generis international organization taking such great care of the environment, developing the body of environmental provisions, which aim to preserve nature, protected areas, wild life, biodiversity, … as well as human's environment. The law, acting as a main tool for the solutions which arise from the natural sciences, shall be able to transform the ideas, knowledge, information, experiences, etc. , generated by natural sciences into the everyday life, taking care of legal remedies and bringing results. The Centre of Excellence will combine research with teaching, theory and practice, stimulate multidisciplinary debates, publish working papers on different topics in this respect, organize round tables and seminars involving NGOs, government officials, courts, inspectors, etc. Outputs, results and products in the form of working papers, multidisciplinary debates, teaching activities of law students and natural sciences students will be fully accessible on the internet site dedicated to the project. Any interested individual, government officials, institutions, judges, etc. will be able to use the results of the research work, which can be than used in the field of their work, engagements, etc.
