Abstract
The purpose of the study is to evaluete the reliability of follow-up of renal scars, detected with DMSA scintigraphy in children after their first urinary tract infection (UTI) with ultrasound (US). Fifty children under 6 years with UTI, vesicoureteric reflux and pathological DMSA scan will be included in the study. Renal function (EDTA clearens), blood pressure and possible proteinuria will be evalueted and renal ultrasound will be performed to measure renal volume and to detect renal scars. We would like to find out, whether the cut-off point of renal changes detected by US still falls in the range of clinically not important scars. The approval of the relevant Ethics Committee will be obtained prior to the beginning of the study.
