Abstract
The use of ozone in treating drinking and wastewater has increased during the last decade. Ozone is very attractive for this purpose mainly because of its high oxidizing and disinfactant character. The major activity of proposed work will be focused into the study of ozonation treatment efficiency for reducing pesticides such as 2,4-D (2,4 - Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid) with and without the presence of organic matrix (humic acid). Particular attention will be given to the identification of intermediates formed during the oxidation and to the reaction kinetics. The results of the proposed project should shed more light on the fundamental as well as technological aspects of the ozonation treatment technology for removal of pesticides present in drinking water as well as in wastewaters.
