Abstract
The University of Ljubljana Centre of Excellence / DebatEU stands for Ljubljana focal point on the policymaking process and policy studies in Europe. The University of Ljubljana - Faculty of Social Sciences (UL-FSS) is a research organization hosting two centres (Centre for Political Science Research and Centre for International Relations) with research agendas in EU studies. It organizes academic bachelor, master and Ph.D. programs in which considerable attention is paid to EU studies. DebatEU brings together scholars from political science, international relations and sociology with multidisciplinary expertise in policymaking process and policy studies in Europe. In terms of research, DebatEU will facilitate the development of high-profile research and the support of Ph.D. training; in terms of teaching, DebatEU will function as a hub for EU-related teaching at the UL-FSS and beyond, enabling innovation in teaching programs and reaching out to new students and citizens interested in life-long learning through the open educational resources platform. In terms of outreach, DebatEU will support structural dialogue in the field of EU policymaking and policy studies, will act as an organizer of events for different target groups, and will publish high-quality products tailored to different target groups. The core research and teaching revolves around the theme of policymaking process and policy studies in the EU. Its research program is centred around two interrelated research lines, focusing on the changing domestic and EU-level policymaking processes, and the democratic legitimacy of the EU policymaking process.
