Abstract
Fibre properties, such as sorption, mechanical, thermal, chemical.., which are dependent from chemical composition and sub-microscopic structure of fibres, determinate their applicability. The main goals of structural investigations of fibres are statements about structural mechanisms under the physical and chemical influences. With systematic application of known procedures of fibre structure modification and with analysis of their properties the always searching interactions between structure and properties can be find. On this way the fibres with new improved characteristics can be developed. All this is of grate importance for development of textile chemical processes i.e. finishing processes, which are rationalised and more ecological.
The research will focus on investigation of the relationships between the structural and the sorption properties of PA 6 fibres. The dyeability of PA 6 fibres does not always decrease with an increased degree of crystallinity because it also depends on the way in which crystallinity had been achieved, i.e. on the material''s history. Fibres that contain only alpha or only gamma crystalline modifications show different sorption properties and dyeability.
Especially the the influence of the amount and the shape of voids in the diffusion of dyestuffs and dyeability will be researched. On the PA 6 fibre samples with different modified structure the following structure analyses: SAXS and WAXS, DSC, density and birefringence measurements,.. and parallel sorption analyses (diffusion of dyestuffs, colour, Water vapour absorption, water retention power and iodine sorption value) will be made. The important influence on the behaviour of fibres in the liquid media have their surface characteristics. The surface properties will be analysed by two different methods: tensiometry and zetapotential determination.
