Abstract
In casting stainless steel of various types and in electrical-sheet steel, micro and macrostructures of continuously cast slabs with thicknesses 160 to 250 mm will be analyzed. Based on spacings between dendrite arms, the conditions of solidification will be determined. Further, influence of melt flow patterns in the tundish and in the mould on the quality of cast slabs will be investigated too. Final aim of investigations will be the casting process for slabs close to final dimensions which should reduce production costs of hot and cold rolled sheet strips.
