Abstract
Controlled clinical trials in relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis have established that interferon beta-1a and interferon beta1-b are effective in reducing the frequency of relapses, the number of demyelinated plaques and the progression towards disability. The aim of this project is to compare effectiveness of both interferons by studying biological markers of disease. We will compare the influence of interferon beta-1a and interferon beta-1b on cytokines (interferon gamma, IL-6, IL-10, IL-12) and adhesion molecules (sVCAM-1, VLA-4).
