Abstract
Atmospheric CO2 enrichment and the presence of secondary air pollutants - photooxidants (O3) can significantly influence carbon balance in plant-soil systems. For the stability of ecosystems mycorrhiza, symbiosis of higher plants and fungi, is of great importance. Since mycorrhizal fungus is dependent for its carbohydrate nutrition on photosynthesis by the host plant, modification of the availability of photosynthetic products can influence mycorrhizal development and function. Physiology and mycorrhizal status of selected plants will be studied at natural CO2 spring Stavešinci (Slovenia) and on sites differently exposed to photooxidants.
