Abstract
Aluminium alloys are used from cryogenic to somewhat elevated temperatures. Welds are to attain mechanical properties comparable to those of the parent metal. Reproducibility of weld quality required, if compared to that with steel, is poor due to a number of influencing factors. Different welding conditions in TIG and MIG welding of six different aluminium alloys and their influence on mechanical properties at cryogenic and room temperatures are to be studied. The aim of the study is to obtain and define all the influencing factors which ensure good reproducibility of mechanical properties of welds at the temperatures concerned.
