Abstract
SCALE is a consortium of 13 research institutes from 9 EU-countries that aims to improve erosion mitigation strategies in respect to a. harmonisation of a framework for mitigation planning that accounts for regional differences in erosion damages supported by erosion modelling, b. the introduction of hydrological connectivity as a key consideration in mitigation strategies, c. the adequacy of their application in different agricultural environments in the EU member states and d. the consideration of soil functions (i.e., pools of organic matter and biodiversity, water and nutrient supply) associated with the transfer of sediment from land to water.
