Abstract
Breast fed infants that during the age from one to three months gain weight insufficiently, have presumably consumed too small amount of human milk. In plasma they have smaller content of long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LCPUFA) and thus increased needs for them. Breast-fed infants that aditionally consume formula milk with LCPUFA have higher amounts of these fatty acids in plasma phospholipids compared to infants that consume formula milk without LCPUFA.
