Abstract
This research proposal is an attempt to contribute to a radical reappraisal of contemporary theorising concerning the constitution of the community and the identity-formation in present-day democratic societies. Conceived as an investigation into a complex interplay of discursive mechanisms and hegemonic logics which determine the formation and dislocation of collective identities (political, cultural, ethnic, transnational, diasporic, etc.), the proposed research will try to denounce deficiency of both modernist and postmodernist approach as well as to resolve their “differend”.
