Abstract
The 3D-4CH project plans to launch an online competence centre to help cultural institutions leverage 3D and advanced technologies, supporting the 2021 European Commission Recommendation on 3D digitisation of cultural heritage. The centre will provide professionals with access to best practices, standards, accredited training, tools, services, and updates on new developments. For researchers, educators, and enterprises, it will serve as a forum to share news and offer courses, materials, and tools for certification.
Significance for the country
The online competence centre contributes to Slovenia’s development by strengthening digital and technological competencies, particularly in the field of cultural heritage, through training in 3D technologies, standards, and best practices. It provides better access to advanced tools for 3D storage, visualization, and interpretation, and fosters innovation and the development of new cultural products and services. By ensuring the aggregation and long-term preservation of 3D content, the project supports sustainable use and effective management of cultural heritage. At the same time, it enhances Slovenia’s international recognition as an innovative country in the field of digital cultural heritage and Extended Reality (XR) technologies.
