Abstract
SEISMIC aims to create a holistic approach to revolutionize neurosurgical care through seamless integration of minimally invasive surgical approaches and imaging technologies.
SEISMIC’s structured framework for collaborative development and rapid clinical adoption will transform high-risk, resource-intensive neurosurgeries into safer, faster and more accessible interventions, revolutionizing neurosurgical care across Europe—and beyond.
SEISMIC will develop and integrate continuous 4D ultrasound guidance with compact X-ray for unobtrusive, real-time guidance; high-fidelity simulation platforms empowering clinician training; non-invasive liquid biopsies that bypass the blood-brain barrier; and minimally invasive surgical techniques to treat lesions without needing large skull openings. These breakthroughs will be validated in four high-impact clinical applications—hemorrhagic stroke, subdural bleeding, tumor diagnosis and tumor treatment— in trials assessing safety, efficacy, scalability and economic viability within a holistic assessment framework.
SEISMIC will shorten procedure times and minimize surgical trauma, reducing complication rates and hospital stays; accelerate recovery and improve long-term outcomes; and extend specialized neurosurgical care into underserved populations.
