Abstract
The aim of the DSGN-PALL-CARE project was to strengthen the capacity of partner organisations in providing state-of-the-art transnational education and training in palliative care. The project was implemented by three higher education institutions: the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health Sciences Osijek (Croatia), the University of Maribor, Faculty of Health Sciences (Slovenia), and the University of Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina). As project coordinator, the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health Sciences in Osijek, together with its partners, designed and developed an integrated and sustainable proposal for a joint master's degree program in palliative care. With the growing needs of patients for palliative care services, there is also an increasing need for highly educated professionals and nurses. Postgraduate education in palliative care is only available in some countries, so the project partners researched and analyzed examples of best practices and innovations abroad. The results of the 15-month project and the identified needs for improving the knowledge and competencies of teaching staff enable further efforts to acquire the necessary competencies. The exchange of knowledge and best practices between partners took place through regular communication, meetings, and study visits.
