Abstract
In recent years, Slovenian agriculture has faced numerous systemic and environmental challenges that affect its sustainability, competitiveness, and appeal to young successors. With the project PRIRAST – Introduction of sustainable and nature-friendly production technologies and modern approaches in crop and vegetable breeding and seed production to mitigate the effects of climate change, we aim to address these challenges with a comprehensive approach that connects key stakeholders within the national agricultural knowledge and innovation system (AKIS). The main objective of the consortium’s program is to establish close cooperation between research institutions, advisory services, and farms with the aim of developing, testing, and transferring innovative technologies into practice. In doing so, we will contribute to strengthening capacities for the faster development of new varieties, technologies, and sustainable approaches, while also enabling better adaptation to climate change and market demands.
