Abstract
The program is focused on social aspects of the labor market. The demand side is dealt with the analysis of formal and informal work. We are interested in the work structure (types, branches, proficiency levels, occupations), and its changes (increasing flexibility, redistribution, redefinition, increasing proficiency level, individualization and team work), as well as the factors that influence them (technological change, economic development, globalization of economy, the changes in the enterprises’ structure and ownership). The supply side is dealt with the analysis of demographic change, migration, working time, and particularly education and training as the main factor of the quality of labor. The matching between the labor supply and demand is understood as employment process. We make analysis of ways and procedures of employment and employment policies that result in various (im)balances between labor demand and supply in terms of different kinds of unemployment, social exclusion, labor shortages, occupational and organizational careers, reconciliation between work and family life, non working time utilization etc.
Within the program a special segment is devoted to the long term research of the influence of industrial relations on the effectiveness of industrial organizations in Slovenia. According to the organizational theory the type of social capital determines the organizational structure. The aim is to identify the types of social capital and relevant organizational structures that prevail in Slovenia. The question is also about the congruency of the types of social capital in Slovenia and appearing supra national industrial relations regulation. Will this regulation enhance or hinder Slovenian industrial organizations?
The program covers all the basic research aspects: data compilation and creation of data files, longitudinal and cross-section analysis, forecasting, elaboration of programs and measures for the regulation of employment, and evaluation of employment and education policies. The research is focused on four levels: individuals and social groups, organizations, country and its regions, and international comparisons.
