Abstract
The research programme consists of:
1. development of basic concepts in the fields of social and special pedagogy theories,
2. development of new methods of research methodology (primarily qualitatative research methods and methods for the research of hidden populations),
3. development of new methods of process functional diagnostics, which could measure different processes of psychophysical functioning (cognitive and metacognitive functions, emotional, social and movement functions),
4. research of recent and long term social processes, which produce and influence the emergence and development of different modes of psychosocial and social problems, with which social and special pedagogy are traditionally engaged (conditions of socio-political transition, globalisation, stratification, migrations, etc.),
5. development of new models of social and special pedagogical interventions,
6. research and development of ways, modes and methods of integration of persons with special needs (especialy in the framework of educational institutions),
7. research and facilitation of the process of profesionalisation of special and social pedagogy (development of evaluation methodologies, standards of professional quality, models of in-service and permanent training, professional supervision, etc.),
8. research on the emergence, development and dynamics of the newer forms of social exclusion (peer violence, drug abuse, new regressive youth cultures, second generation migrants, etc.),
9. research on civil education and methods of its implementation,
10. research and development of existing and new models of professional interventions (experience based pedagogics, models of intermediate treatment, new restitutive educational measures, operationalisation of the ideas of integrative interventions, etc.),
11. evaluative research of the system/network of residential and ambulatory treatment, models of outreach and street work and different preventive strategies,
12. development of concepts, doctrines and instruments of inter-disciplinary co-operation.
