Abstract
The CLIMACT project serves as a strategic bridge between the high-level goals of the European Green Deal and the practical modernization of the European Education Area. By integrating digital transformation with environmental action, the project ensures that higher education is not just a source of theoretical knowledge, but a driver of tangible green innovation. The motivation for the CLIMACT project is rooted in the urgent need to bridge the gap between high-level European climate policy and the practical, entrepreneurial skills of the next generation of university students. While the European Green Deal and the Digital Education Action Plan set ambitious targets for a carbon-neutral and digitally proficient Europe, current higher education curricula often remain siloed, lacking the transdisciplinary approach required to turn climate science into viable social and technical solutions. The primary challenge addressed by CLIMACT is that many students possess theoretical knowledge of climate change but lack the entrepreneurial skills and communication competencies to implement actual change. CLIMACT directly supports the Erasmus+ mission of fostering inclusive, digital, and green transitions by providing students with "portable" micro-credentials, cross-border collaborative experiences, and the entrepreneurial mindset needed for the modern labor market and policy world. Ultimately, by scaling student-led solutions from grassroots prototypes to high-level policy recommendations, CLIMACT creates a systemic impact that aligns academic excellence with the EU’s vision for a carbon-neutral and digitally proficient future. The lead partner of the project is the Technical University of Munich, Germany, with the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Laboratory for Telecommunications as a project partner. CLIMACT involves eight partner countries: in addition to Slovenia and Germany, these include Turkey, Italy, Ukraine, Norway, Latvia, and Greece.
