Abstract
The main purpose of the research program is to develop knowledge, methods and procedures for mastering the development, and management of intelligent manufacturing and business systems. The research program consists of many different research fields, that can be joined into next groups: 1. Modelling of technological and business systems based on the evolutionary computation methods. 2. Development of CAD/CAM/CAP informational and logistical connections by use of artificial intelligence methods. 3. Development of virtual manufacturing models. 4. Development of new technologies and intelligent manufacturing procedures. 5. Development of technological databases.
Importance of the program for knowledge
Expected results will improve the data flow from a design to a manufacture of the product. Beside, we wish to assure the highest possible level of flexibility for the production systems. The concept of dispersed – dislocated enterprise represents a completely new branch of a manufacturing systems development. By the use of evolutionary computation methods a simultaneous evaluation of economy, productivity and quality of manufacturing will be enabled for the first time. Gained results will help further conception of cutting process legitimacy and it's complex evaluation. The final combination will join the economical aspect of energy consumption with ecological aspect at the demanded product's quality.
Importance of the program for Slovenia
The project will give an integral and autonomous arrangement of needed data, which will be available in shortest possible times. Produced software will enable a fast and effective evaluation of many influential factors, and determination of working-out conditions simultaneously regarding many different optimisation criteria. Cognitions of the project will give a detailed view over the use of manufacturing means and through it, over the economy of manufacturing procedures. A concept of dispersed enterprise and worked-out model of business-technological process will enable linking among enterprises and their incorporation into a world market over the computer networks. These will be exceptionally useful in small and medium sized enterprises such as tool making companies that represent an important segment of Slovenian industry. The concept will enable globalisation, shortening of production times, greater integration by products’ development and cost reduction.
