Abstract
The research program of the group involves two scientific areas: automation of production and process systems and measurements using opto-electronic and low frequency acoustics sensor systems as well as other high performance sensing technology, focused on distributed and quasi-distributed fiber optic measurements, novel optical fibers and smart structures. Within the first area object oriented real time databases and client/server applications for SCADA system are investigated in order to simplify the development of SCADA systems within multi operation systems environments. Additional new fuzzy and heuristic based methods for process control are being developed and practically implemented. Secondly the research work is focused onto low frequency acoustics and distributed fiber optics sensors. Here possibilities for novel applications of one dimensional gas resonator in the field of measurement science and an detailed investigation of distributed microbend sensors based on selective mode launching and filtering will be carried out.
