Abstract
The research programme has been directed towards the development of information methods which support the formation and transfer of knowledge in chemistry and chemistry-related fields. Priority will be given to linking basic and applied research with the education and development of environmentally friendly processes and procedures, in co-operation with governmental institutions, industry and foreign universities. The research programme includes sections on basic and applied research and development which are interrelated, thus allowing for synergistic effects. The research runs in the following fields: (a) engineering of chemistry knowledge for identifying knowledge patterns by using computer-based methods and by experimental testing; (b) informatisation of education; (b1) evaluating the quality of chemistry knowledge and the development of methods and techniques of chemistry education at all levels, with special emphasis on informatisation and visualisation in theteaching and learning of chemistry, which supports the development of advanced-level transferable skills; (b2) development of undergraduate and post-graduate study programmes in chemistry education and science informatics, and (b3) development of educational aspects of research and development work; (c) information methods and techniques for the transfer of chemical and broader scientific and technical knowledge into practice; (c1) development of integrated information systems as a support in decision making and optimisation of processes and procedures, (c2) development and introduction of intelligent methods for increasing the efficiency of industrial research and development.
