Abstract
Prospective randomised study about different modes of enteral nutrition of multiply injured patients, started not later than 6 hours after admission to intensive care unit or later than 24 hours after admission. Different diet regimens with addition of immunomodulatory substances, like glutamine, omega-3 fatty acids, and fibres as colon nurishment will be compared with ones without additions. Intestinal permeability will be measured by the lactulose/mannitol test and thus the role of time of institution of enteral nutrition and the diet variables in the reduction of permeability will be assessed. Namely, the later is the main reason for massive bacterial translocation and consequent late mortality of injured patients.
