Abstract
The research will be directed towards the recording of life histories in Austrian Carinthia, and will concentrate on the questions of linguistic socialisation in both primary and secondary environments and on the questions of the confrontation with multiligualism in personal and public life. It is intend that the development of an archive of life histories will provide documentation for investigations into language, language use and language contact in the context of the comprehesion of the world by the individual.
