Abstract
In the framework of the project assessment of energy technologies penetration will be done for reduction of energy use and of CO2 emissions abatement. Assesment will be done on two pilot case studies. Examples chosen refer to penetration of small CHP systems (up to 1MWe power) and to improvement of energy efficiency in an energy intensive sub-branch of public sector - the hospitals. In the framework of the project potentials and barriers will be identified for CHP technology and also computer software for optimization of CHP systems and economical assessment in conditions of free market with electrical energy. Computer software will enable better decision making for top management which will be able to decide whether to invest in CHP, which is due to its high efficiency highly suitable for energy cost reduction and for CO2 emissions abatement. Due to many variables which influence a rentability of such investment, that problem cannot be solved without a good tool and also qualitative data which investors usually do not have. On the case of hospitals an assessment of characteristic energy use patterns and energy saving potentials will be done for economical efficiency improvement and based on this programme of efficient energy use with suggestions for guiding mechanisms. System for monitoring of saving effects and for energy efficiency indicators will be done in the framework of the project. Due to a variety of energy use in that segment, applicability of results will be transferable over public and industrial sector. The programme will comprise all fields of energy consumption: heat and electricity. It will propose a series of technological solutions to reduce energy use, increase efficiency of technological devices and reduce CO2 emissions which is an environmental goal of European Union as well as of Slovenia.
