Abstract
In this trial we're going to estimate the value of uterine artery embolization (UAE) - a new treatment option for uterine fibroids - which represents an alternative to a classic surgical treatment. In this pilot study we're going to include 50 patients (with a solitary symptomatic uterine fibroid) in whom the surgical treatment has been suggested. After US and CT investigations done, bilateral uterine artery embolization will be carried out in all patients. The success of treatment will be followed 30 days after UAE, as well as 3 and 6 months later by means of US and CT investigations. Statistical analysis: nonparametric statistics (Mann-Whitney test).
