Abstract
In proposed project I would like to continue with a research in the field of fuzzy cellular automata (FCA), whose basics had been defined in my Ph.D. dissertation. Their main characteristics are locality of interaction and the synchronicity of dynamics. With fuzzy logic involved into the field of fuzzy cellular automata the uncertain (ambiguous, possible etc.) knowledge and input data from the real environment could be integrated and used in a defined structure. Very good modeling and simulation results have been obtained from the Ph.D. dissertation’s test application of fire spread simulation in nature homogenous environment when we have been using fuzzy cellular structure compared to ordinary statistical methods used in professional tools.
In the proposed project the research will be focused mainly to three directions. First one is the research of possible hardware realization of fuzzy cellular automata. The main research problems of realization are "fuzzy memorizing" or memorizing of a "fuzzy bit" of information and a fuzzy synchronization of a processing. The second direction is the research of possibility of synthesis approach design of fuzzy cellular automata structure. It foresees that the FCA structure is designed on the basis of desired dynamics that is passed in advance. The third direction is the research in the field of filtering and recognition applications, which are based on the FCA structure.
